At Dema, we’re building the agent platform for modern commerce teams, connecting marketing, orders, inventory, returns, margins, forecasts, product data, customer behavior, and external systems into a unified intelligence layer.

Now we’re deploying production-grade AI agents that act on that intelligence: governed, evaluated, equipped with the right tools and skills, supported by memory, and built to run safely in real customer workflows.

We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to sit down with our customers, understand their pain points, and build agentic workflows in the Dema Agent platform that solve real operational problems.

Sometimes that means building a replenishment agent that monitors stock, forecasts demand, and recommends what to reorder. Sometimes it means creating a creative generation workflow for top-performing commerce brands that need high-quality output at scale. Sometimes it means an agent that tracks margin, incrementality, campaigns, product velocity, or inventory risk, then turns Dema’s intelligence into budget decisions inside the customer’s business.

This role is for someone who wants to build state-of-the-art agentic workflows in production, not just impressive demos.

What you will do:

• Work directly with customers to understand their workflows, pain points, systems, and business logic.

• Design and build production-grade AI agents on top of Dema’s intelligence layer, data model, and external integrations.

• Create scheduled workflows with the right tools, skills, memory, evaluations, guardrails, and governance.

• Build lightweight apps, interfaces, automations, and integrations that make agents useful in daily work.

• Write pragmatic code in Python to connect systems and extend capabilities.

• Debug real-world problems across APIs, data flows, workflows, permissions, and customer environments.

• Turn customer-specific solutions into reusable product improvements, templates, and playbooks.

• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, data, and customer teams to make deployments successful.

You are a great fit if you:

• Have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, ML engineer, data scientist, technical consultant, or in a similar builder role.

• Like sitting with users and understanding what is really blocking them.

• Can move between code, data, product thinking, and customer conversations.

• Care more about customer impact than shiny tools.

• Want to build AI agents that actually help businesses run better, not just impressive demos.

• Are excited by commerce, profitability, marketing, inventory, product performance, and operations.

• Have founder energy and want to help shape a new function at Dema.

Bonus points:

• Experience in machine learning and data science

• Experience in ecommerce, retail, marketplaces, or commerce operations.

• Experience building with LLMs, agents, workflow automation, or AI-assisted tools.

• Experience deploying software or automations into customer environments.

• Experience building small internal tools, dashboards, or apps.

• Experience in an early-stage or high-growth startup.
